How to Choose an Artificial Turf Provider

Check UV warranty before anything else

Artificial turf in Australia is exposed to extreme UV. A minimum 8-year UV warranty from the manufacturer is essential. Cheap imports with no UV warranty will fade and harden within 2–3 years.

Compare installed price — not just the turf price

Advertised turf prices are often supply-only. Always get an all-in quote that includes old lawn removal, base preparation, weed membrane, infill, edging, and labour.

Ask to see completed installations

Good installers will have a portfolio of recent work. Visit a completed job if possible — photos do not reveal drainage issues, seam quality, or edge finishing.

Base preparation is the most important step

The quality of the crushed rock base determines how the turf performs long-term. A proper base with correct compaction and drainage prevents pooling, movement, and weed growth.

Get at least three quotes

Price variation between turf installers is typically 20–40% for the same area. Multiple quotes protect you from overpriced proposals and help you understand what a fair price looks like.

Ask about drainage for your specific soil type

Clay soils need more base depth than sandy soils. A good installer will assess your soil and adjust the base specification accordingly rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach.
