What size air conditioner do I need for my room?

Roughly 1kW of cooling per 10 square metres of well-insulated space: 2.5kW for a bedroom, 5kW for a living area, 7 to 9kW for open plan. Oversizing wastes money twice, upfront and in short-cycling running costs. A mid-tier 5kW back-to-back install lands $1,800 to $2,800 fully installed, within the broader $1,200 to $4,500 split system band. Tip: measure the room and check the star rating label before quoting; installers size faster and quote sharper when you bring the numbers.
