Are towing fees regulated in Australia?
For accident tows, partly: NSW caps a standard accident tow at $246 for the first 10km plus a set per-km rate after that, and Queensland caps crash tows at $369.30 for the first 50km then $7.30 per km. Breakdown towing is not capped anywhere, and market rates run $2 to $5 per km with hook-up fees on top. Tip: after a crash, you choose the repairer destination, not the tow driver; know the cap for your state before you sign the towing authority.
