Why is there a minimum charge for grease trap cleaning?

Most contractors bill a 1,000 litre minimum even for smaller traps because the costs that matter, the truck, the driver, travel and licensed disposal, are identical whether they pump 500 or 1,000 litres. Per-litre pricing between $0.25 and $0.46 is common above the minimum. Access matters too: internal, basement or rooftop traps add 15 to 30 percent to the bill. Tip: if your trap is small, negotiate a longer service interval within your trade waste rules rather than fighting the minimum.
