Is a termite inspection worth the money?
Yes, and it is not close. An inspection costs $200 to $400; termite treatment once they are established runs $2,000 to $5,000, and the structural damage they do first is not covered by home insurance. Termites work out of sight, so no visible damage means very little. An annual inspection is the cheap insurance the actual insurance industry does not sell. Tip: book inspections in spring when activity peaks, and keep garden beds and mulch clear of the slab edge year-round.
